this and that..

That's me going up the ski lift! Woohooo..tips up Julie..
And this is my little Doe cruising down the run..She did good for taking a year off..

and my 19 year old Trev..he is cute, huh? He thinks I am a little crazy.I will let him think that.

OOPS! sideways..sorry about that. This is what my life has been like come to think of it. Ben broke his arm snowboarding..he was on the other side of the hill with an instructor of all things. Luckily it is not that bad..and doe was sick and had her third chronic sinus infection so I took her down the hill to the Dr. and get her medicine and rest. . Mike was feeding the animals at home so we did a switch... He came up and stayed in the condo with the kids and got to snowboard and I went back down to be the keeper of the animals. See..its hard having animals and leaving or finding someone to feed them, so we have to do crazy stuff like that. In the end it all works out.
I love to ski..mom and Dad were skiers and even met each other while skiing. I hated it until I was in high school. Then it was cool to ski with my friends and such. Dad was hardcore, and made us ski while it was snowing. We were the first ones to get on the lift and last ones to leave the hill. It was brutal! They did not even have fleece in those days. Oh..the memories. I just wanted to sled..like the normal kids do.I though that there was nothing normal about this business. I got over it..and I am grateful for my parents taking me skiing, and now look at me! I am doing it with my kids..let you in on a secret. we sleep in..and get out on the slope around 1:00 p.m. and ski until whenever we want to.The lifts close at ten. Fleece makes all the difference in the world. Thanks Mom and Dad. Thank you fleece..is fleece made out of used tires? oh well.

Oh..and on that rampage of a blog post while i should be in bed. This peony photo from last year. Oh Mr. Peony...please bloom early..it is ugly over here.

That is a fun memory. Amazing what you hate as a child can change in a day. Enjoyed your memories, thanks, PJ

Oh, the slopes look so inviting! We never get any snow like that here, just a dusting now and then. I've only had an opportunity to ski a handful of times but I loved it.

A big AMEN on juggling animal care... but we adore them anyway :-)

I hope Ben and Doe are both feeling better.

Rhonda

BTW I love the Peony bloom!

Friday is ski night here for two of my boys. I go and watch when it is warm enough, sit in the lodge when it's not.

They know I won't ski with them after the traumatic tow rope incident when I was 6, rotfl.

Glad to hear you had fun even with a few set backs. Can't wait for tonight for "yarn" night and getting our brains together for an awesome project! There will be snacks! :)

Great photos Julie! My family loves to ski too (we are snow lovers) :-)I hope to get some photos of them this weekend on the slopes - but with temps averaging minus 7C its been too cold to take the camera out!
Have a good weekend. Hope Doe is feeling better.

I am so embarrassed to admit that I have never been skiing. My friends keep talking about a group of us going to Utah to ski. I will be taking lessons with the toddlers.

i am SUCH a chicken... will NOT get my camera out on the lift! soooooo neat... always hate i miss those shots... moments i am freaking out cause we are SO high! :)

sooooo sorry to hear about Ben & his arm... ugh! well really sounds like you all had many "sick" incidents. i sure hope everyone is on the mend!

we skied as kids too... i don't know how my mom handled it... it scares me to see them go so darn fast!

Kudos to you for passing along a winter hobby! My folks never did--they hated cold and winter and I never learned to ski. I took up cross-country skiing as an adult because I NEED to get outside ALL YEAR long and downhill skiing intimidated me.
