Hospital Visit

We ended up in the hospital last weekend due to complications of diabetes. Greer has type one and she got sick with a cold. Her blood sugars were not running high so I was not too concerned with ketones in her blood. So she starts throwing up, I do a urine test and it told me that I needed to get her in and be seen. Next thing you know she is getting an IV in her arm and being transported in an ambulence and she is admitted to I.C.U. That was fast, I am in shock and exhausted. I grabbed my camera, and took a few while we were there. Luckily we were there for only 24 hours..She has been home all week with a bad cold, and cough. I don't want to push it..SO that is what is going on in my little world. I really hope there is a cure. For her and Benjamin. This disease is the pits. It really is.

I hope Greer is feeling better Jules. I really feel for that little sweet pea. But it looks like she was spoiled while in the hospital. :) I can only imagine how exhausting all of that is and then to tack on all the worry. Even Mike looks exhausted.

Em says hi!

We always pray for a cure for Greer and Ben. I wish they did not have to deal with this for the rest of their lives.

I hope your daughter is feeling better. I am glad it was only a 24 hour stay, I am sure it seemed like 24 days. I too pray for a cure, it will come and then children like your daughter and my niece will have an easier day.
Your photos are just as beautiful as your arrangements. You have a wonderful eye.

I just ran on to your blog through The Farm Chicks and wanted to let you know my 6 yr old son has had type 1 since he was 2 and the I.C.U is always my biggest fear this time of year. My heart goes out to your daughter and your family. I agree 100% with you that this disease is the pits and there needs to be a cure! Wishing you lots of good health this winter from Arizona :D

Bless your heart!
So sorry to hear about your hospital visit. I am glad they got her fixed up so fast.....It is a scary disease!!
We almost lost my nephew before they got him squared away. We wonder how long he had it before diagnosis since he always seemed to be a sickly child. We pray for a cure too!
I am going to pop over to check out your other blog now.
Blessings~LillySue

Amazing how quickly things can change. I really pray for a cure as well. Too many precious children are afflicted and its just not fair.
Hope all is going well now and no more trips to the hospital.
All my best.

Hi Julie, my name is Jennie, I'm a friend of Nicki Schutz. I'm Susans sister in law... well she was telling me about you and your beautiful pics. I just logged on and was taken aback with these pics of your daughter. Oh does this take me back. My daughter is also diabetic. She is almost 18 now & was diagnosed at 2. Seeing these pictures made me just want to give you a big hug. Its been years since we've had any major hospital stays, but we used to be admitted every single year. If you ever need a friend to talk to... please dont hesitate to reach out. I will tell you this, I've been on this journey for 16 years now, and she will be ok. It is unbelievable hard sometimes, I know. But it changes, and gets easier. Your family is beautiful, and you are so creative & talented! Have a great day.
